Where it began
Some memories never leave you. The rustle of a new dupatta on Diwali morning. Your mother pinning your pleats before the guests arrive. Garba nights that ran past midnight, the glint of mirror work catching the light, the scent of marigolds and mehendi in the air.
Then life takes you far from home. The festivals still come, but the search becomes harder: finding an outfit that feels like home, fits the way it should, and arrives before the celebration does. Too often it meant settling: pieces that looked nothing like their photos, sizes that were a guess, and parcels that took weeks to cross the ocean.
We've lived that search ourselves. So we set out to bring that feeling back: the craft of India, the joy of dressing up for the people you love, and the ease of having it arrive at your door, here.
Why “9one Roots”
9one is +91, India's country code. For so many of us it is more than a number. It's the late-night calls across time zones, the voices of our parents and grandparents, and the first digits we dial when there's good news to share. It is our way home.
Roots is everything that number carries: the weaves, embroideries and rituals handed down through generations of hands, the traditions that shaped who we are, no matter how far we've travelled.
Together, 9one Roots is a promise to keep our heritage close, and to carry where we come from into every moment of where we are now.
Why we started
Because wearing your culture should feel like a celebration, not a compromise.

Each one should arrive ready to wear, look just as it did when you fell for it, and make you feel connected to something bigger than the day itself: your family, your story, your roots.
What we commit to
- Craft with a story. Zardozi, mirror work, Kutch embroidery, Patola and Ajrakh: made by artisans who keep centuries-old traditions alive, one stitch at a time.
- Ready when you are. Our pieces come pre-stitched. No tailor, no waiting, just open the box and celebrate.
- A fit that feels like yours. If a size isn't quite right, our alteration service tailors your piece to your measurements.
- What you see is what you get. Honest photos and descriptions, so the piece you open is the piece you fell in love with.
